Poila Boishak or the Bengali New Year was celebrated with much fervor at the premises of Bengali Club & Yougmen’s Association on 15th April, 2022 from 7:30pm. This event was celebrated after 2 years of sabbatical due to the Novel Coronavirus.
The President of the Club, Mr. Arun Kumar Banerjee welcomed all the guests and hosted the evening with much warmth.
Bengali Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa finalist and viewers choice of 2021, Anushka Patra, captivated the audience with the latest Hindi as well as Bengali songs.
She was welcomed to the stage by Asstt. General Secretary of Bengali Club, Ms. Trissha Sinha and honored with a shawl and bouquet by Dr.S.Munshi, who has been a Patron of the Club since long, Mr.Basudev Banerjee and Mrs. Enakshi Sinha, Vice Presidents of Bengali Club.
She was accompanied by her band of 8 members.
Anushka made a grand entry with Rabindra Sangeet “ Aamaro Porano Jaha Chaye” and sang Jaa Re Udh Jaa Re Panchi in tribute of the Late Great Lata mageshkar Ji. She also sang numbers like Aisa Mauka Phr Kahan Milega, mega hit song “ Saame” from Pushpa, an evening in Paris, Zara sa jhoom lu main, odiya – assami mix “Rangabati- Rangbati”, Khaike Paan banaras wala, Mere Rashke Qamar, Main Hu Don, Bengali Folk – De De Paal Tule de, Modhumaloti daake aye among others.
Some prominent figures honouring the evening were Lucknow Commissioner of Police, Shri D.K.Thakur and his wife, Dr. Subhashish Munshi and Mrs. Bulbul Munshi, Shri. Abhijit Sircar, Dr. Manoj Mitra and his wife, Mr. Sajal Banerjee & Mrs. Sangeeta Banerjee.
She even joined the audience on the floor, who grooved to her songs and jiggled to the tune.
Holding to their tradition, BCYMA treated its guests to Darbesh ( a very sumptuous Bengali Sweet) and everyone left with happy hearts and “MishtiMukhs” ( muh meetha)
